RUFAT WORKSHOP · 2D ACTION-ADVENTURE PLATFORMER

Come wander through what remains.
Rufat is a handcrafted, story-driven 2D action-adventure platformer with exploration, combat and light Metroidvania elements. Explore the people, places, memories and ideas that shape the game. When something sparks an idea, the Workshop is here for it.
WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT
Rufat's public vertical slice releases 1 February 2027.
We are building toward a focused opening journey from Dar al-Sukun through Bab al-Ahd and to Aqeed Ayuub's threshold. The extra production time is being protected for hand-drawn art, world building, story iteration, playtesting and polish.

Five regions. Five kinds of memory.
The Spirit Realm — traces, memory, passage
Dar al-Athar
Dar al-Athar is the strange realm where Rufat begins. It is not presented as an afterlife, but as a place of traces: fragments of memory, impressions of places and lives, and things that have endured beyond where they should belong. Samir awakens here before returning to Rufat, guided through a path whose purpose he does not yet understand.
The ruined heart of the old royal court
Dar al-Sukun
Samir returns here between journeys. Once the royal heart of Qamaris, Dar al-Sukun now holds broken ceremony, abandoned objects, and traces of palace life.
Ayuub — duty, defence, promises
Bab al-Ahd
One of Qamaris' great defensive entrances, Bab al-Ahd was shaped by guards, travellers, workshops, military families and roadside trade. Its duties and promises continue long after there is nothing left to defend.
Maryam, Mother of Cinders — family, protection, childhood
Hosh al-Dar
A region of domestic courtyards, family life, caregiving and community. Hosh al-Dar remembers joy as well as grief: games, food, lullabies, neighbours, arguments, celebrations and the small routines of home.
Idris — knowledge, history, learning
Riwaq al-Ilm
Riwaq al-Ilm holds libraries, archives, scroll vaults and spaces of learning, but not only bookshelves. Qamaris also preserved knowledge through recitation, teaching, debate, star maps and spoken history.
Harun — justice, guilt, judgement
Diwan al-Hukm
Diwan al-Hukm is a civic district of judgement: public halls, records, clerks, witnesses, guards, petitioners and families awaiting decisions. Its memories ask whether the law protected ordinary people or failed them.
WHEN YOU ARE READY
Bring us a remnant.
You do not need to finish exploring before contributing. You also do not need to contribute at all. The Workshop should give you ideas before it asks for one.
