REGIONS OF RUFAT

Every place remembers differently.

Explore the regions as places first, not form categories. Each page gathers its mood, ordinary lives, questions, visual direction and the kinds of stories that belong there.

01

The Spirit Realm — traces, memory, passage

Dar al-Athar

Dar al-Athar is the strange realm where Rufat begins. It is not presented as an afterlife, but as a place of traces: fragments of memory, impressions of places and lives, and things that have endured beyond where they should belong. Samir awakens here before returning to Rufat, guided through a path whose purpose he does not yet understand.

Maryam, Mother of Cinders — family, protection, childhood

Hosh al-Dar

A region of domestic courtyards, family life, caregiving and community. Hosh al-Dar remembers joy as well as grief: games, food, lullabies, neighbours, arguments, celebrations and the small routines of home.

Harun — justice, guilt, judgement

Diwan al-Hukm

Diwan al-Hukm is a civic district of judgement: public halls, records, clerks, witnesses, guards, petitioners and families awaiting decisions. Its memories ask whether the law protected ordinary people or failed them.
