Weavers of the Curse

The Weavers of the Curse are a source of atmosphere, aftermath, strange rules and local stories. You do not need to know their hidden canon to create something memorable around their influence.

01

Design the consequence

Imagine what a neighbourhood, family, guard post, classroom or market looks like after something impossible has altered its routines. Start with what people can see, fear, misunderstand or adapt to.

02

Create rumours and interpretations

People in Qamaris did not all understand events the same way. Conflicting rumours, nicknames, warnings and folk explanations can make the curse feel lived-in without requiring a definitive answer.

03

Invent curse-touched details

Objects, rooms, sounds, repeating behaviours, damaged customs and environmental oddities can all carry a Weaver's influence. The Workshop can adapt a strong idea around the private canon later.

IDEA STARTERS

Small ideas can carry a whole life.

Every dawn, the knots in a row of market awnings have retied themselves into the same unfamiliar pattern, and three merchants remember three different people teaching it to them.
A guard post contains a bell that makes no sound, yet its Echoes still stop talking whenever the rope moves.
A family keeps covering one mirror because each member remembers a different reason they were told never to uncover it.
An archive room has perfectly preserved labels but every stored object sits beneath the wrong name.
A street has developed a local rule that nobody steps on the centre stones, although nobody agrees what happens if they do.
Two neighbouring Echoes blame different supernatural causes for the same ruined courtyard, revealing more about themselves than about the truth.

FROM SPARK TO CONTRIBUTION

Worked example: The Silent Gate Bell

This kind of contribution gives the curse texture while leaving the Workshop Keeper room to connect it to the correct Weaver and canon later.

01

Idea

A large warning bell at the Broken Gate no longer produces sound.

02

What makes it strange

Whenever the rope swings, every nearby Echo pauses at exactly the same point in its loop.

03

People's explanations

One guard says the bell rang too late. Another insists it rang before danger arrived. A merchant claims it was never a warning bell at all.

04

Player interaction

Samir can pull the rope. Nothing audible happens, but distant environmental details briefly react.

05

Contribution possibilities

Environment prop, Echo dialogue, local rumour, audio cue, side-room puzzle or a small Book of Names connection to the bell keeper.

06

Why it works

The idea feels connected to the curse without deciding what the Weavers truly are or why the bell behaves this way.
